okay guys, to the point 1,what do you think the main problem was what the speaker said??
BalasHapusI think he talks about the types and ways of speaking in various regions.how about you guys??
HapusAfter I watched the video, I think the point is about how people around the world behave and communicate, and they have their "rules" of life and socializing. So, it's about understanding cross-cultural communication.
HapusIn my opinion the main problem presented by the speaker is that he conveys the differences of the 3 cultures around him. He try to take the best of all three and trying to merge them into one.
HapusOktia's statement means what kind of culture? try to be more specific, I don't understand what that means
HapusAccording to the video, the speaker talked about culture and behavior of Norwegian to other nationalities. The Norwegian have another accepted and familiar thing in their language. There are have many words in there which are accepted and familiar. That's way too many words but the Norwegian do it in one word. It's called economic of language.
HapusIn my opinion the main idea mr Pellegrino is talking about is, how we communicate with other nations. and how it is acceptable or familiar to cultural of other different countries. and Pellegrino also said that culture is a system of behaviour that help us. act in an accepted or familiar way

HapusIn my opinion, he's not talking about changing culture, but about expanding that culture and incorporating all the positive aspects of each culture that he conveys.
HapusI think what he was talking about was, how happy he was living in Norwegian and he also wanted to help other people from different countries to learn to communicate well.
Hapusfrom my point of view
HapusPellegrino comes from an English and Italian background and currently lives in Norway. he became a cross-cultural expert, he shared personal and professional experiences of how very different cultures can successfully coexist with each other and I think the issue he explained was how we can survive and respect many cultural differences. and how to people around the world behave and communicate and also socializing.
I think I agree with Thoriq's opinion because there he discusses how people talk
HapusI think the problem discussed is about communication variations from 3 languages and trying to compare English with Norwegian
Hapus@lala oktari He's got three cultures inside him, he is norwegian but he also has italian and english blood.
HapusSo guys, whose opinion do you think is the most suitable for point 1???
HapusActually, there is a bit of an example of cross-cultural communication in our region. The Bataknese is known for their loud voices when they're talking. As a Rejangnese, sometimes I feel it's kinda annoying. Sorry if it sounds racist, I know it's just a stereotype, all of the Bataknese is not like that.
Hapuswa that's great but what about the thing we're discussing? @oktia puspita sari
Hapus@Thoriq, yeaah I agree with you, because I think it's Just like when the javanse talk to the medan or bataknese. Java is famous for soft speech. And when the batak speak, it will sound stern
Hapusthe point is about how people around the world behave and communicate, and they have their "rules" of life and socializing. So, it's about understanding cross-cultural communication. nd how it is acceptable or familiar to cultural of other different countries. and Pellegrino also said that culture is "a system of behaviour that help us. act in an accepted or familiar way". main problem presented by the speaker is that he conveys the differences of the 3 cultures around him. and he talked about culture and behavior of Norwegian to other nationalities. Hapus@Rista Cahyani, yupss! Sometimes when the batak speak with their accent, it sounds like rude.
HapusAfter I watched the video, I saw that there are many people in other places/countries with different cultures or opinions, and how we deal with these differences, and how we can take the positive side of these differences.

BalasHapusokay lets talk about point 2 what cultures he is utilizing to present his points. what do you think guys about this??
BalasHapusIn the video, he utilizes the culture of some European countries (the talker is English-Italian-Norse btw). So, there is one example he's talking about how different the queues are in the UK from Finland and France. In the UK, the queues are fantastic or in his word "the world champions of queueing". It's different in Finland (where the spaces between the lines are wide, very wide) and France (where the waiting line is, how do I describe it, chaotic).
HapusI think he uses his experience in everyday life which relates to his points, to convey the points of what was said
HapusI think the speaker used Norwegian culture in conveying his point and compared the cultural habits with the culture in other countries such as UK, Italy and others
Hapusin my opinion the culture conveyed by the speaker is that the culture is Italian but the speaker is used to using Norwegian because he has lived there for two weeks, even though he comes from Italy but in his accent there is no Italian accent at all so other people are often surprised because he is very fluent in his English accent. therefore he also wants to help others to communicate better across cultures by conducting social experiments.
HapusThe culture he is utilizing to present his points is Nordic culture. It's about economic of language : minimum words, maximum messages. That way too many words but Norwegian do it in one word. Like the example he gave : "Excuse me, may I just interrupt you for a second..." to one word, "Du?"
HapusI think my opinion is the same as @Thoriq. He utilizes many culture e.g European countries, and also he talks much about culture in finland amd france, i think it's the present point he utilized
Hapusand Mr. Pellegrino compared English culture to Norwegis several times.
HapusThat the British opinion has a better queue culture than Norway. And how the Singapore airline treats passengers
I think The culture used to convey the point is Norwegian culture.
Hapus@Lala Oktari, Yes, right. I agree with your opinion. Because what I saw from the video there was a lot of culture that he conveyed. He conveys this according to his experience or his daily life. With many cultures conveyed. It proves that there is actually a lot of culture that he means in his delivery in the video

Hapusofc andrianita, I have the same opinion with you.
Hapus• Perception (Understanding what People See)
- People see what they want to see
- It is the ability to dig under the surface and find out the underlying values are..(Key to Communicate with people)
- When you feel uncomfortable you tend to focus on the negative
- something weird to the society is unaccepeteed and unfamiliar
• How to deal with people with different codes and culture
1. curiousity Ask a simple curious question, then pick words that interests you...
YOU HAVE TO BE CURIOUS TO UNDERSTAND OTHERS misperception is when we focus on negative sides
• Rules are different in others Its not about changing cultures its about Expanding your culture and merge all the positive aspect of each culture. This called a Global Mindset.. This makes the world round
